John is currently President of Dynamic Economic Strategy, LLC and focused on financial and economic advisory works, writing a weekly newsletter, and presenting economic concepts and commenting on economic issues at several conferences. John is the author of four books in Economics and Finance published by Wiley and Palgrave.
Formerly, John was managing director and the chief economist for Wells Fargo Securities until July 2018. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, he has held his position since he joined Wachovia, a Wells Fargo predecessor, in 2002 as the company’s chief economist. John has been a frequent guest on CNBC, Bloomberg (TV and radio), Fox Business and the Nightly Business Report.
For 2024, John received the Bronze award for his ten-year interest rate forecast from Focus Economics. For the last two years John has been awarded the housing Price forecast award from Fannie Mae for the past two years.
John also serves as Economic Advisor to Carolinas Investment Consulting headquartered in Charlotte. He is also an Advisor to the AS Staffing Group which focuses on placement for workers.
Before his position at Wells, John worked on Capitol Hill as senior economist for the U.S. Senate Joint Economic Committee and chief economist for the U.S. Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee
John served as the president of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) in 2015 and was awarded a NABE Fellow Certificate of Recognition in 2011 for outstanding contributions to the business economics profession and leadership among business economists to the nation. He also received several awards for the quality of research in economics.
Michael is a market managing partner in Citrin Cooperman's New Jersey office with over 25 years of experience providing counsel and services in areas of profit enhancement, budgeting, planning, and compensation restructuring, helping clients to operate more efficiently.
As a practice co-leader of Citrin Cooperman’s Staffing Industry Practice, Mike has a specialized focus in the staffing industry. Tony Nunez is a director with over 13 years of experience providing strategic accounting, tax and consulting services. Tony specializes in serving clients in the staffing and executive search firm industry, as well as real estate, manufacturing and distribution, healthcare, and professional services firms.
Tony provides staffing and executive search firm clients with business and tax advice, business planning strategies, financial projections, forecasting, and strategies for year-end and ongoing tax issues.
Tony’s portfolio of staffing clients include healthcare, light industrial, IT, professional services, and permanent staffing firms.
Tony speaks and writes on issues related to the staffing industry. He has presented at annual industry conferences held by the New Jersey Staffing Association and the Affiliated Staffing Group.
Toby Malara is Vice President of Government Affairs for the American Staffing Association. In his role, Malara directs ASA’s government relations, lobbying, and political activities, including the operations of the associations’ political action committee, StaffingPAC. He also advises members on immigration/I-9, paid sick leave, sales tax, and per diem issues. Malara graduated from Georgetown University and earned a J.D. from the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University.
With over 25 years of experience in the staffing industry, Mike Cleland helps executives achieve their growth goals through leadership development and organization design. As the founder of Charted Path, Mike has worked with owners and executives on optimizing organizational structure, company governance, business planning, sales strategy, process improvement, performance management, and compensation plan development. Mike has worked with over 125 companies ranging from start-up to $600 million in every major staffing vertical.
As a former president of a $60 million IT staffing company, Mike understands the practical challenges of execution and helps clients develop focused and feasible solutions that management teams can implement. When not working with his clients, Mike shares his knowledge through various articles and speaking engagements. His latest book Breaking Through: Leadership Disciplines from Top Performing Staffing Firms, was co-authored with Barry Asin, President of SIA, as a follow-up to Behind the Wheel: Driving Excellence in Staffing Operations. Mike was named to the Staffing Industry Analysts Top 100 in Staffing for 2014, 2017, 2018, and 2019. He is also an Everything DiSC and Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team Partner as well as a Certified Contingent Workforce Professional through Staffing Industry Analysts.

Alan Bugler is a Managing Director and a senior member of BGL’s Services vertical. He leads the firm’s Human Capital Management investment banking team.
Alan has over 20 years of experience as a trusted advisor to CEOs, boards, owners, and private equity firms in sell-side and buy-side M&A and financing transactions. Throughout his career, he has focused on HCM, business process outsourcing, and professional services industries, where he is recognized as a thought leader, industry speaker, and published author.
Prior to joining BGL, Alan was a Managing Director at Citizens M&A Advisory. Previously, he was Managing Director at Bowstring Advisors (fka CHILDS Advisory Partners), a middle market boutique investment bank focused on Human Capital and Professional Services. Alan helped Bowstring grow from a handful of colleagues to a leading sector-focused, middle market M&A Advisory firm until it was acquired by Citizens Bank in 2019. Alan began his investment banking career at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in their M&A division.
